i know some of you don't give a hoot, but when i came back to the springs after being in yuma for a week, the rains washed away the roof of his cave in the bank. HOOT is the name aunt janet gave to the owl. my parking space that i had is filled, so i am parked alongside the main road again till i find another or they leave.
aunt doris let me know that tina and andy are going to move her back when the weather warms up (hope that happens this year). i'll still be stopping to see her end of march after i get the rv-ritz treatment.
again, i am going to try to settle down for a month or so without any fixing or repairs. i do have to change oil in the new generator after 10 hours and then it will be every 50 hours. i can't believe my winter is half over with already, and i don't think i've had the experience i thought i would yet. having full power (new generatator, new batteries, new solar, and new transmission to move it all around) does give me a sense of relief.
i hope all of you in MN got warmed up with the january thaw and will be able to make it till spring. my thoughts are with all of you often, love, jmp

Another note from Jeannie
hi all, guess what, the genertator went out again sun morn, doing the same thing starting up and dying right away. it was 3 weeks ago he tore it all apart and replaced brushes, etc. but couldn't get the rotors out/rusted in. he sanded them down best he could and it ran fine for 2 weeks. well now it's replace it and spend a week around yuma. maybe fri or more likely mon. sun afternoon, i packed up and came in and parked at the onon service place. spent most of mon waiting till he had time to look at mine. got the word it'll have to be replaced as soon as they can get one shipped in. today, i spent doing a little shopping and going out to the organic farm that i found. got all my pickings cleaned and in my great new fridge and am going to see a comedy at the movie theatre tonight. had plans to go to lake havasu city to visit some old friends, the neumans, but with this new expense, i'm gonna just stick around hot springs for my duration down here. i've kind of gone over budget for this trip and then some with the tires and fridge before i left, then the transmission and park break in the ice storm of ks, plus the generator that didn't get looked at till yuma and now replacing it. i will be real happy to spend feb and mar resting up for the trip back!! hopefully aunt doris will be going back with me, i'm sure we will have a good time whatever happens, if she still wants to risk the trip.
other than a few bumps in the road, all is well with me and i'm happy to be in the sun instead of cold mn.
hope this finds all of you well and warm as can be, love jmp

Update from Jeannie
at last i am parked with everything working!! got the generator in yesterday and was back to the springs in time for a soaking. for the first time since mn, i unloaded my bike and lounge chair, plus got out my grill and grilled a steak for my birthday dinner. thanks to all who sent a greeting, it was a great day.
grateful for sure to be finally planted for a while, went for a long bike ride this morning before getting some chores done and for the first time, i am looking at the news on tv. the solar is working great, the inverter is keeping a charge on phone and computer, the generator is for making coffee and tv - all is good!!
hope all is well with all of you and i am grateful too, for each of you - love from here, jmp

Lots of news from Wisconsin
Hi Mary
It isn't that we haven't been thinking and saying a prayer for you! I'm glad to hear all is going well for you with setbacks now and then. But they sound like they can be handled. We've had a nice month. Ellen has been home and we will miss her when she leaves on Monday. We had a nice visit with Loretta and hear she is going on a cruise. She is really getting around. I would love to go on a curise but get so motion sick that I don't think we will ever make it. John is doing well after his cataract surgery. He had problems with inflamation afterward and took about 6 weeks to get that controlled and is looking forward to new glasses or no glasses. A friend of ours had a lens implant that corrects for both distance and close vision. Hope that is available when I have to have it! I had another skin cancer surgery. Not much doing except lots of snow as you have , too. We enclosed our deck with patio doors last summer and that really keeps the dining area warmer. Some days it's over 80 on the deck when the sun is shining. John likes to sit in the sun - he and the cat. Glad to hear that all is going well. Take care - John and Florence
Florence forwarded me this comment:
Friday night JR and I went to Colfax to a new pizza/Italian place. Right on Main Street (west side).
They are open 7 days a week and have WONDERFUL FOOD.
Please try to patronize this business sometime when you are in the area.
Lets help them succeeded in business.
Be sure to try the garlic cheese bread appetizer, the best I've ever had!

So that prompted the question if Anne owned the restaurant? And this was her comments:
Anne owns the restaurant. She and her friend, Rick, gutted a building and remodeled it and my niece, who is an art teacher painted the murals’ on the walls. She makes all of her own bread and pizza crust as well as her sauces, etc. She has pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, chicken alfredo, etc. She has excellent salad with her homemade dressing. She doesn't have a bar, but you can have beer or wine. She is just starting into deli items - cheese trays, etc. This more information than you need, but I just thought I'd give you a little background. Florence
I think we need to make a road trip. Sounds great! m
