On my way to Switzerland and Lockenhaus, Austria
I got home on Thursday, and I leave this Thursday, May 1, for my trip to Switzerland with Kathleen and Gary. We will be staying with cousin Karen (Aunt Loretta's daughter) for almost a month (4 weeks). We will be at Grandpa Schieber's birthplace on the 4-6th of May as well. Hope to get more information about his real father....Leo Stefan....or at least more information about his mom Theresa Hirt. I hope to update this blog along the way. So stay tuned! Love ya all, m

It Can't Get Much Worse!
hi all, it's good to be back and parked in brooklyn park, but of course, things continue. itasca has an appointment this week to get a check up to see why the electric hook-up is not keeping the battery charged. camping world thinks it might be the converter. another thing that happened this week was that my car got front-ended while parked in a side street in osseo mn. i was helping the girls at 'nic nac paddywak' and went out to do an errand and noticed my car didn't look right. a hit-and-run vehicle had backed into it and destroyed the front bumper, grill, license plate, hood, and knicked one head light. deano's collision shop gave me a loaner and will let me know when i can pick up my restored car and pay the $500 deductible.
i continue to hope life will return to normal any day now and i will be ready!! hope life is good for all of you, love, jmp

A Taste of Italy

Hi All: We, Al and I just spent a wonderful weekend at out son Matt's home
in Wisc. Sunday we decided to go to " A little Taste of Italy" Annie
Schieber's new restaurant. Her and her partner(sorry I forgot his name) gave
us a wonderful tour through their menu. Explaining all the wonderful foods,
and how they are prepared. Of course I told them we were there to critique
the food.
Started out with a glass of wine, we started our journey. 1st on the
list was Annie's Cheesy Garlic bread( she makes all her own breads and pizza
crusts) Aunt Flo told us we had to try that, it was really good. 2nd was a
Chicago style pizza, with Annie's homemade crust, WHOOOOLALA. Then we tried
the lasagna, not the usual, but very delightful and rich. Then we tried the
homemade bread pudding, OH MY GOD I should have gotten more to go, but by
then my brain was full. We should have tried the Anti pesto but I couldn't
eat any more. Pictures attached, it's a wonderful cozy atmosphere with hand
painted murals all around. My kind of place.
I think we should plan a Sunday afternoon trip, it's only 1 1/2 hr.
drive, and Annie said she thought Mike, and maybe Uncle John and Flo would meet us
there. ????

Responses I'm Getting!
This is Kathleen’s response to my survey.
Gary and I plan to attend the reunion but the only kid of mine who might could possibly be Jessi...........
We will probably stay at the reunion site and bring our van to sleep in...........
We will be there from Friday evening until Sunday.............and yes, we'd like to go to dinner Friday evening with the group. We do not want to join the golf tournament...............but Gary offers to hold a Bocce Ball tournament on Saturday.........probably after the ball game...............we'd bring the Bocce balls and Gary will organize a schedule and playoffs.......and I'll do the prizes for it.
We'd be there Sunday morning........but it would sure be nice if we did pancakes at the farm rather than trying to go to a restaurant...........and I'd help with that if anyone is interested in heading it up............
Kathleen
This is Gary’s response and my comments in bold back to him.
Dear Mary:
If we received two identical questionnaires, must we answer both? Must the answers be the same on both? Please send us pens to complete the forms.
Must we pass through a metal detector before entering the reunion site? Not if you fly, but all those crossing state borders in vehicles will.
Is this a clothing optional event? Only for you.
Are we responsible for removing disabled cars after the event? Yes (Ask Jeannie)
Is the collison derby a mandatory event? Only for those from Wisconsin. Can we use the farm equipment? Only if they are painted Green
Will there be open latrine trenches or will outhouses be provided? YES please!
Will we be allowed to keep all items found on the ground during the event? YES please!
Will we be allowed to sell things or operate a consession at the reunion site? Only those with an official reunion emblem on them.
Will police be called if we borrow things from each other without permission like jewelry or farm equipment? We have our own malicia.
Can gypsy relatives also participate? How many months can relatives stay at the farm after the reunion? What do you mean....we are all gypsies. 9 so proof of paternity can be made.
Are there rules about cooking farm animals without written permission? If an animal wanders into our camp can we roast it? Yes, but only if not related.
Can we use wood from unattended structures to build open fires? Maybe
Will there be dueling areas for resolving family problems. Must we provide our own dueling pistols? Yes
Did you forget the bikini contest? Yes, as well as the evening gown.
How many people can we sleep in one hotel room? As many as you want.
Will there be DNA testing to prove lineage or is anyone allowed at the party? We'll let you come!
Looking forward to seeing all the attractive cousins again. We can't wait to see you even if your not.
Please send us a list of all relatives that might lend us gas money for the trip.I'll forward to all the cousins....so we'll see how much money you get. But please come anyway.
We must be related because just like your mother my dad said about the same thing. That Ambrose things always seemed more than just a coincidence.
This part is true!
Ambrose would say:
"Life is short so break the rules if you expect to have a happy day!
If you must kiss someone besides your true love, kiss fast because, if caught, forgiveness will be slow.
If you get away with anything, just smile, don't regret it, and laugh uncontrollably about it later and smile.
As mom would say "Oh Happy Day!"
Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly!
Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably..
And never regret anything that made you smile.
Cousin gary
I think we'll take Gary up on the bocce ball tournament, and Kathleen on the offer to do a breakfast on Sunday a.m. with the help of any other volunteers.
Ginny Martinson also responded with an idea of a hotel in Becker and a Golf Course in Elk River (par 3) So keep those ideas coming. I can't wait to hear from more of you. Also Ginny and her sister Sharon both will be in attendance. For the first time we will have more people with Uncle Tom's family and Leo's family being represented. I'm so excited.

On the Move!
Well Mary and Family
Here we go again. For the family I think it is best if everyone just write my
addresses in pencil for awhile.....I have moved back to Phoenix and am staying with my wonderful friend Cathe.
My new address for at least a year is going to be
18650 N 91st Ave #2701
Peoria AZ 85392
Two friends and I had a road trip to get me here and we had non-stop laughing.
It was a blast. I want to thank everyone who helped me get ready for this and
to get the ball rolling, Especially my sister Debbie and my wonderful cousin
Janet who I can't thank enough for all her help.
Who knows what this next year will bring, but I do know that I am in the right
place to find out. Take Care everyone and I will let you know if and when I
change my address and e-mail...... Mary could you please put this in the CC for
me.
Love to All,
Dar
